Holiday cheer
Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova and U.S. Open semifinalist Jennifer Capriati will play an exhibition match Saturday at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., to raise money for the Florida Hurricane Relief Fund.
"Many of the top women's tennis players in the world live, train and play in Florida, and the worldwide headquarters for the Women's Tennis Association is in St. Petersburg," WTA Tour CEO Larry Scott said. "So many of our communities were all affected by this year's unprecedented hurricane activity."
Florida was devastated by four hurricanes during the late summer. Maria Sharapova, originally from Siberia, makes her U.S. home in Bradenton, while Florida native Capriati lives in Saddlebrook. "It's a way to give something back," Maria said. "And it's especially great we can do something this time of the year."
